Final Changes

Due to our unexpected snow day, all finals will be held on Monday, December 20 through Wednesday, December 21. Here is the new exam schedule:

  • Monday, December 20th – periods 4, 1 and 2
  • Tuesday, December 21st – periods 5, 3 and 7
  • Wednesday, December 22nd – periods 6 and 8

Here is what you can expect and plan for on your final:
Choose four of your photos of the works you completed in AP this semester.

For each work, answer the following questions to create a final response to the work. You should write four different statements on lined paper. Sometimes your best work is not as easy to write about as a work that needs more development. Turn in the statement along with the photograph of the work you write about.

a.    For what portion of the AP portfolio was this work created?  How will it fit into the category?

b.    Explain how you built the composition. Use the elements of art and the principles of design to describe the composition. Explain how they helped your composition.
                        Elements:                                                                      Principles:
                                    ____line                   ____value                                  ____balance           ____pattern
                                    ____color                 ____space                                 ____emphasis       ____rhythm
____shape              ____form                                   ____variety             ____movement                                                           ____texture                                                                  ____Proportion                  ____harmony/unity

c.     How well did this work reflect your initial planning? If you did not complete the initial planning, then reflect on your process and how the work developed.

d.    What was your concept for this work? How well did you develop this concept? What visual clues provide evidence of this concept?

e.    What techniques did you use to create this work? Did you try something new with the technique? Was this the best technique to use for the concept you chose?

f.      If this is one of your strongest pieces, explain why and tell what you will use from this work in another later work. If this is one of your least successful works, then explain what you would do differently.
